Meditaciones Molestas

In the quiet left

by the whir of the dishwasher as it clicked off

The wind rose

to drown out the ticking of the clock

My limbs felt the weight

of the end of the luteal phase

My soul felt the sadness

of dreams deferred

My mind said

I need you to come here

and sit

and be still

I did not want to listen.
