Where do hummingbirds go in winter?

A day of nothing,

that’s what I need to jazz me.

To recharge and kick start the engine.

But there’s always the danger of a day of do-nothing

leading to lethargy,

sad, morose thoughts.

Of not enough energy to do anything productive,

but enough guilt to keep away any enjoyment.

Where do hummingbirds go in winter?

  1. Earlier this week I had a couple of days strung together where I couldn’t even muster up enough energy to read emails (which requires the bare minimum of effort, even on slow days). Thankfully, a couple of days didn’t stretch into several, and now I’ve managed to get back on track, staying occupied with sewing projects and much-neglected cleaning chores.

“enough guilt to keep away the enjoyment”

a perfect way to describe those non-energetic days,
especially when they are not being used to recharge,
but rather, to succumb to the call of the pending darkness
